(UPDATED) REP DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER, SPONSORS SKILLS ACQUISITION TRAINING

It is yet another period of impactation and learning as The Deputy Minority leader, house of Representatives, Rt. Hon Toby Okechukwu, hosts a craftmanship training for a group of thirty persons from his constituency at the Scientific Equipment Development institute, SEDI Enugu.

The training covers a diverse range of crafts which includes
Welding technology and fabrication of Agro machines, ICT (programming), plastic moulding, Lens making, Glass Blowing, Recycling waste to Wealth, Electrical Installation, wiring and maintenance etc.

UGAMATV learnt that the Skill set training is aimed at empowering the constituency, towards establishing a more enterprising spirit in the constituents while building the creative capacity.

We had earlier reported that the lawmaker who values the investment into human capital development, had earlier this month sponsored a duly bankrolled music talent hunt for the musically inclined youths of his constituency and far beyond. The chosen ones are to be mentored, groomed and subsequently sponsored to hit the Nigerian Music industry with exceptional contents.

Similarly, Fifty persons had undergone a fish value chain training, under the Federal college of Fishery and Marine technology. A training that earned them a certification from the citadel of learning, hence making them alumni of the School, as well as a fully equipped fish farm to launch a fish farming business.

No fewer than two hundred youths had also benefited gainfully from several quite sought after skills, which include, Welding technology and fabrication of Agro machines, ICT (programming), plastic moulding, Lens making, Glass Blowing, Recycling waste to Wealth, Electrical Installation, wiring and maintenance, welding,  mechatronics, electrical and computer training, 3D epoxy floor and wall furnishing at the Cooperative College, Oji River, A 21st century skill in house beautification, These ones have become employers of labour among their ranks.

It is Gathered that the Trainees are to camp in the institute for two weeks during the course of their learning, after which they will be adequately sponsored and equipped to go into business with their acquired skills, all expense paid by the lawmaker.

One Franklin Udeh Cheryl from Aninri, Who is enrolled in the Information and Communication technology part of the program, intimated our Correspondents that she envisages being a certified ICT specialist by the end of this training, She however acknowledged the sincere efforts of the Lawmaker towards actualization the best out of his constituents.

Ezenwa Chima Kingsley from Awgu, appreciated the representative for an opportunity to enrol furniture-making, hoping to make progressive growth by the end of the training.

In the same Vein, Nnebedum Chidera Kingsley from Oji river, relayed his heartfelt gratitude for the privilege of partaking in the training, while hoping to be an ICT expert by the end.

Speaking to us, on the need to adhere to safety protocols in any organization, the Head of Safety Unit, SEDI Enugu, Engr. Ugwu Hyginus, said that the teaching of safety precautions is as a matter of status quo, the first thing that should be done to anyone admitted into any Establishment to avoid any manner of hazardous occurrence, hence, the Safety lecture in the first day of the program.

The Former Enugu state commissioner for information, Dr. Udeuhere Godwin Ikechukwu, representing Okechukwu, said that this initiative is aimed at the addition of skills to the designated persons, hence making them Job creators rather than Job seekers.

He then encouraged the full participation and involvement in the course of the training to attain the most optimal result possible.

Ten persons were picked respectively from the three individual local government Areas constituting Awgu, Aninri and Oji federal constituency, summing up to thirty participants.

The selection process however, was done based on declaration and scrutinization of interest.
