Concerned individuals of Enugu West Senatorial zone have expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged allocation of N6.5 million scarce resources to a political rally by 5 Council Chairmen from the zone.
They stated that “it is an act of wickedness and a show of shame that 5 Council Chairmen from Enugu West have mapped 6.5 milliom each to support the forthcoming 7th August 2021 Enugu West Rally Political rally, which will contribute absolutely nothing to the development of the people of the area”.
“It is an open secret that 5 Local Government Chairmen from Enugu West have decided to throw caution to the wind just to fulfill fruitless jamboree of a microscopic few.

“Nobody is against any group organising rally to express their interest and political sentiment about 2023 governoship election in our state, but to use funds meant for the development of Enugu West for such jamboree cannot be ratiinalized. It is unforgivable. It is shameful that some of these LGA Chairmen, who have less than 5 months to go, care less about even starting a single project in their LGAs, but are willing to use N6.5ml for a funfare.
“Specifically some have not done any single project in their LGAs. . This punishable offense must be challenged through legal, social and community means because we cannot fold our hands and allow some political figures hijack our allocations for their sellfish interests, not minding the impact on our children and collective development.
“We cannot allow it to fly without questioning. If they want to hold rally, they should fund it from their personal pockets, definitely not with collective resources meant for the development of Enugu West.
“The president of Nigeria has warned the LGA Chairmen repeatedly that gone are the days when they can carelessly misuse and mismanage council funds without getting punished or without consequences.
“There is an extent executive order that every LG Chairman should be held accountable for all the allocations he or she received during his or her tenure. EFCC has created an online reporting system for such case and we are definitely going to maximize it in this matter.
“It must be reported and followed to the letter if they insist that LGA funds must be used for the rally.
“Concerned Enugu West individuals hereby caution the Council Chairmen not to fall for this temptation because posterity must definitely judge them.
“The organizers of the jamboree should source for fund independently to execute their project.
“Use Enugu West fund to develop Enugu West, not for political rally and jamboree” They stated.
