Early healthcare vital to reduce mother, child mortality —Saraki

Wife of former Senate President, Mrs Toyin Ojora-Saraki, says timely healthcare is vital for the survival of both mother and child in the country. Ojora-Saraki stated that the availability of the right medical personnel and equipment will go a long way to reducing maternal and child deaths in Nigeria. She spoke on Friday at the maiden edition of UGAMATV Digital Town Hall with the theme ‘Strengthening the Nigerian Maternal and Child Health through Clinical and Community-based Interventions’.

According to her, pregnant women and new births should receive care at the right time. “No woman should be subjected to harmful practices during childbirth,” she stressed. The Founder and President of Wellbeing Foundation Africa, an organisation created with the aim of improving health outcomes for women, infants, and children, added that quality nutrition for both mother and child is also crucial in this regard.
