The Former Deputy President of the Senate, and senator representing Enugu West Senatorial zone, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on Friday, the 19th of November went to Ndiuno Uwani Akpugo of Nkanu West local government in Enugu state to pay his last respect to the late Chief Mrs Roseline Okenwa (Nwekeogu) Nee Nnaji, as she was laid to rest in her hometown.
Roseline Okenwa, who died on the 12th of October 2021 at the age of 77 after 20 years of protracted illness was the mother to the prominent Enugu politician, Chief Hon. Barr. Ochendo Ekene Okenwa, the former local government chairman of Nkanu West.
In a tribute to Okenwa by Ekweremadu, he condoled him stating that Nee Nnaji’s death is indeed a heavy loss, not only to him and his family, but to all him, his associates, friends and well wishers.
Stating how deeply sorry he was to receive the news of her passing Ekweremadu said, “I encourage all to find succor in the fact that she lived a sterling life, leaving behind enormous goodwill and legacies that will keep memories of her aglow for a long time to come.
“It is also to the credit of your late mother that she raised such outstanding off springs as you and your siblings. There is no doubt that the pages of history will be kind to her.
“On behalf of my family and constituents, therefore, I send heartfelt condolences to you and the entire family. I share in your grief over this sad loss as well as in your joy over a life well spent. I equally join you in prayers for the peaceful repose of her gentle soul”, he said.
Concluding his tribute, Ekweremade added that, “while wishing you the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, please accept the assurances of my highest regard always”.
