ENUGU CENTENARIAN TAKES A BOW AT 103

Late Elder Prince Simon Ibeabuchi Ejimofor, the oldest man in Obeagu town of Awgu local government area, Enugu State has died at the right age of 103.

Born in 1918, to the Family of Chief Omesu Alonta Ejim, the paramount ruler of Obeagu Kingdom, late Ibeabuchi was forced to begin life early as his father met his untimely death in 1925.

PA separated from his mother and siblings, to relocate to ‘Yoruba’, where he began the craft of tapping rubber and hunting. Soon, he became renowned, as such several young men, trooped in their numbers all in a bid to begin apprenticeship under his tutelage.

He soon took a wife in 1969 as he married Mrs. Margret Ogbodiya Ejim (Nee Ani) from Oyibo Ugbo. This marriage was subsequently blessed with 7 children, (5 boys and 2 girls).

However, in 1975, after the war, Papa relocated to Obeagu and was soon employed by the Civil service commission as Security guard in the state Ministry of Agriculture. His work place was Achi Farm school, Currently, Veterinary School. He honorably retired as a Chief Security guard in 2010.

As a good Christian and a man of the people, Late PA Ibeabuchi was in everyone’s good books. He was an astute worshiper and worker in God’s vineyard.

Given that life is as ephemeral as can be, PA Ibeabuchi succumbed to the inevitable call on January 9th, 2021. His passing was painless and struggle free. He was not embattled by any form of illness, even though he was extensively aged.

He was committed to mother earth on 8th April, 2021.

Though his family and friends are deeply bereaved and in grief, they were still in appreciation to God for a life well led and death in Christ Jesus.

They also had his praises in their mouths.

Chief Barr. D. A Onyemaechi in his tribute, stated that “late Simon was a Prince at birth and was later a Prince of peace.”

“At home, he was a doyen of Peace and Love. He was never controversial. He was a shining example to all of us in his family.”

“He gave his Children and Family his all. He remained faithful to his wife in Catholic faith up until his death.”

“Simon is now resting in the bosom of his creator.”

Malachy said, “Papa, we celebrate you today because you gave us every opportunity to succeed. You did not just give us fish, you taught us to fish and how to.”

“Indeed I noticed your strength was beginning to fade as you called me severally by my brother’s name, Nathy. You expressed pity for your condition, Oh my lovely father, I am convinced you will make heaven. Adieu papa until we meet to part no more.”

Edward wrote, “Papa, rest in peace is very hard to say, but you left us with no option than to wish you a perfect place in the domain of our God almighty. Death is indeed a sure Journey in which every creature will finish. Everyone will miss you, till we meet to part no more, farewell.”
