JUBILATIONS AS ENUGU LAWMAKER EMPOWERS STUDENTS

The Enugu state house of assembly member, representing Aninri state constituency, Hon. Okwu Chinedu Otaka had on Wednesday empowered Indigenous students from several tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The lawmaker had set up through his establishment, Otaka Foundation, a bursary of four Million Naira to be shared amongst 36 successful undergraduate students.

While speaking to UGAMATV about the intent of this benevolent gesture, Okwu stated that this is an avenue of inspiration to the students, a means of encouragement to those who are diligent in their studies.

“to mark my 2 years in office I decided to make it a remarkable event by having my foundation storm up through empowering students who are undergraduates for a bursary award presentation”. He stated.

“This foundation is a product of  determination, perseverance and focus, I believe God that through my determination the empowerment programme will stand the test of time and will be held every year as I am not ready to forget about it tomorrow”

Attributing his inspiration to the former Deputy president of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, Otaka said that he has been a great mentor to him, “I hope not to deviate from your exemplary footsteps, your excellency.”, He said.

He however admonished the students (Beneficiaries) to maintain optimal diligence to their studies, stating that Education is one of the greatest gifts that one can give oneself. He asked them not to loose focus. Keep you head in the game”, Otaka preached.

An elated beneficiary, one of the thirty-six, Miss Ekwe Edith Chinyere, communicated her elation and gratitude to God, Otaka Foundation as well as the crooner, praying for their continuous blessing on every side.

“The God that gave him the wisdom to bring about this program today, and remembered the students in his agenda, that God will continue to bless him and the pocket where the money comes from will never run dry and he will continue to represent Aninri in a bigger way, Amen”. Ekwe prayed.

Sen. Ike Ekweremadu who was present at the event, in his speech of commendation, lauded Okwu, calling a true son.

He commended Otaka for his qualitative representation of Aninri at the state house, saying that he and the good people of Aninri are immensely proud of his works, “if we have the opportunity, Aninri will send him again”. Ekweremadu said.

Appreciating the Clergy for their prayers, Ekweremadu reiterated that it is by God’s grace that most of these works are being fulfilled.

Having thanked the Federal Government for their quick response to the insecurity situation of Nigeria, he urged persons to comply with the authorities to ensure the safety of both lives and properties.

Prior to the presentation of the bursary Cheque, Ekweremadu admonished the benefactors to embrace Hardwork especially in their academics, desisting cheating, cultism and crime of any sort.

“Education is one of the surest platform that gives you an avenue to compete globally, Your education is yours to keep forever, do not joke with it.” He concluded.
