Ohanaeze condemns attack on Soludo, calls for decentralised policing

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, on Thursday, condemned the attack by gunmen on former Central Bank Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

Ohanaeze National Publicity Secretary, Chief Alex Ogbonnia, in an exclusive interview, described the insecurity situation in the South-East as worsening, adding that people in the zone now live in raw fear after over 23 persons had been killed in the region within the last one week.

Ohanaeze again restated the need for a decentralised policing system to enable each geopolitical zone and individual states to tackle their security challenges in peculiar manner.

We had earlier reported that gunmen attacked Soludo on Wednesday and killed his three police orderlies.

The incident happened in Soludo’s home town in Isiofia in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Monday Kuryas, has since said Soludo was safe, while confirming that he state Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, was abducted by the gunmen.

Soludo, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, is a frontline aspirant in the November 6 governorship poll in the state.
