UMAHI PLEDGES AMNESTY TO FREE TWO ABDUCTED EBONYI CHILDREN

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, on Monday, expressed anger over the abduction of two children from Enyigba community, in the Izzi Local Government Area of the state.

According to Umahi, the abduction of the children by suspected miscreants from Enyibichiri community, in the Ikwo LGA of the state, was the height of provocation, as there was no recent dispute between the two communities.

The governor observed that the only land dispute between the communities had been settled by the state government with the assistance of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the bishops in Ebonyi State.

Umahi, therefore, warned the abductors of the consequences of not providing the children in the next seven days, as his government would have “no option other than to move into Enyibichiri community to make massive arrests to get back the children.”

A statement on Monday by the state Commissioner for Information, Uchenna Orji, said the governor spoke while reacting to the abduction of the children.

“The governor assures the entire Izzi clan that the entire Enyibichiri and Ikwo people at large totally condemn this act as evil.

“The governor vows to rescue and reunite these children to their families at all costs and therefore pleads with our Izzi brothers and sisters to please remain calm and prevent their children from taking laws into their hands while promising them that within seven days, this matter about the abduction of their children will be amicably resolved,” the statement added.
