Benin Republic to Anchor WAFU B U-20 tournament

The WAFU B U-20 tournament earlier scheduled to take place in the Republic of Togo from November 18 to December 2 will now hold in Benin Republic from December 5 to 20.

The Flying Eagles have been drawn in Group B alongside Ghana and Ivory Coast. “The WAFU B U-20 qualifiers earlier scheduled to start on 18th November 2020 in Togo will now take place from December 5 to 20 and will be hosted by Benin Republic,” the media officer of the U-20 team, Andrew Randa tweeted. Nigeria, seven-time winners of the competition are currently in camp in Abuja, and the coach of the team Ladan Bosso has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to qualify for the tournament in Mauritania despite their short preparation.

Bosso said, “Everybody is going there (Togo) to compete for a slot. We are in the same group with Ghana and Ivory Coast and I believe it is a blessing in disguise,” Bosso told The UGAMATV. “We are training for a competition not just for one match. We are confident that we will qualify from this group and move to the next group. “The most important thing is to get prepared and get the mindset of the players very positive, and forget it.”
